HOLLYWOOD
(February 28, 2005) - From an electrifying performance by Wicked Wisdom
(with actress Jada Pinkett-Smith and FISH of Fishbone
on lead vocals) to a grand finale performance featuring Mos
Def, Fiona Apple, Musiq and Anthony Hamilton,
the 2nd annual Roots'
Jam Session was the hottest ticket in town.
Sponsored by Miller Genuine Draft - who used the platform
to kick off its “Flavor2Savor” musical summer series - the
live, four-hour non-stop session attracted an impressive list of Who’s
Who in the music, movie, television and sports industries. High-profile
attendees included actors Tom Cruise, Sanaa Lathan
(Nip/Tuck), Jill Jones (Girlfriends), Kelly Osbourne, Erika Christiansen,
Lindsey Lohan, Wood Harris (The Wire), Hill Harper, Regina King,
Tatyana Ali, Los Angeles Lakers star Rick Fox, wrestling legend Hulk
Hogan, South Park creators Matt Stone and
Trey Parker, and R&B star Faith Evans.The
event, produced by Tina Farris of Goodtime Girl Productions and Kevin
Seldon of Keldof,
was originally created to spice up the industry’s nightlife scene.
Hosted annually by Grammy
Award winning group, The Roots, who won for “You Got Me”
from the 1999 album Things Fall Apart, the night is filled
with surprise performances from a variety of musicians from Indie, rock,
R&B and hip-hop.
"Most industry
parties are a little too stuffy and are limited to performances by one
or two artists,” said The Roots founder and drummer Ahmir "?uestlove"
Thompson. “We created this event in order to put the focus back
on the music and to give major artists, as well as new talent, a chance
to take part in a business and musical exchange."

featuring such a diverse group of the biggest names in music,”

THE ROOTS are: Black Thought (emcee), ?uestlove (drums),
Lenoard "Hub" Hubbard (bass) and Kamal Gray (keyboards). Support
musicians include Frankie Knuckles (percussion), Captain Kirk (guitar)
and Martin Luther (vocals, guitar).
