SAN DIEGO,
CA (July 27, 2010) – This year's Comic-Con
International finally confirmed a sentiment that has been slowly saturating
into the minds of our modern society for years: NERD is the new cool.
On Saturday July 24th, after most of the corporate functions that
overwhelm the San Diego Gaslamp surrounding the annual convention
dimmed their lights, a new breed of celebration came to life...a Nerd
Afterhours!
Some of the world's
most well-known Nerds (and some of the most famous faces in entertainment)
gathered at The Keating Hotel’s underground lounge to relax,
game, dance, and party into the wee hours. Stars from Danny
Devito, Seth Green and Olivia Munn to casts
members from GLEE, CHUCK, BIG BANG THEORY, THE EVENT, ALWAYS
SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, COMMUNITY, 90210 and THE VAMPIRE
DIARIES celebrated the Nerd in all of us with the night's
host, Zachary Levi.
The 1st
annual Nerd Party, produced by Keldof
Marketing, not only celebrated the NERD, but also some
of the "nerd's favorite things." The gaming partner for
the night was Xbox in which guests got a chance to be among the first
to play MTV’s Dance Central on Kinect for Xbox 360,
no controller required. Guests also received a sneak peak of Ubisoft’s
Scott Pilgrim on Xbox 360.
The venue for
the night housed a 42’ flat screen twitter feed detailing the
action of the night (#NERDparty),
as well as The Digital PhotoBooth, capturing the spirit of the evening
and celebrating the launch of a new project that will take place in
the fall: The 2010
Paddle Jam - a celebrity ping pong tournament uniting
stars from TV, Film, Sports & Music (including host Zachary Levi)
with their favorite Non-Profits. The Nerd Party also marked the announcement
of forth-coming contest to giveaway a Joola/Sears Table Tennis package
through @PaddleJam
(the PaddleJam twitter page) in anticipation of the PaddleJam, occurring
in Los Angeles at the end of September 2010.
