Los
Angeles (March 31, 2009) - Move over Oscars and Emmys, there's a new
trophy in town. The First Annual Streamy Awards™,
honoring excellence in Web television, was streamed live to a global
audience on Saturday, March 28, 2009 from the Wadsworth Theatre in Los
Angeles. Top new media innovators, creatives and digital entertainment
industry executives celebrated the best in original episodic programming
created for online distribution. Nominees were recognized across 25
award categories, including acting, directing, writing, cinematography,
editing, music and special effects. Both the Official Red Carpet Pre-Show,
hosted by Shira Lazar, and the Awards Ceremony were streamed live on
www.streamys.org.

categories, from acting and directing, to editing and special effects.
Members of the International Academy of Web Television review
shows that are submitted by the public and vote on the final nominees
for each category. The Audience Choice Award for Best Web Television
Series is selected by the public. Founded in 2009, the Streamys were
created by Drew Baldwin, Brady Brim-DeForest, and Marc Hustvedt of
Tubefilter, and Joshua Cohen and Jamison Tilsner of Tilzy TV. The
